Jet2 is one of the UK’s most popular airlines – and as some of Brits’ favourite holiday spots, France, Portugal, Spain and Turkey have all been given the green light by the UK government
Jet2, the UK’s third largest airline, is a go-to for thousands of Brits jetting off on sunshine breaks every year. As the summer season approaches, many anticipate escaping on a much-needed holiday.
Destinations like France, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey are favourites among UK holidaymakers. Jet2 ensures they provide customers with the latest information by updating their travel policies frequently for each country they serve.
Their website advises travellers: “Before travelling to your destination, please check the latest entry requirements as they may differ depending on your destination, nationality, and your travel document type. For all the latest information, please visit the FCDO website.”
Here are the newest travel stipulations for countries including France, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and Turkeyt, reports the Liverpool Echo.
France
For those heading to France, no special guidance or requirements have been imposed by the Foreign Office at the moment.
Jet2’s guidelines mention: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.”
Greece
Regarding Greece, visitors will find that, similar to other European hotspots, there are no additional directives or prerequisites from the Foreign Office currently.
The Jet2 website states: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.”
Portugal
For travel to Portugal, the Jet2 website says: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.
“Young people under the age of 18 need a letter of authorisation with them when leaving or entering Portugal, including Madeira, without their parent or legal guardian.
“This letter must be signed by the parent or legal guardian and, in some circumstances, may need to be legally certified.
“You can download the form here and you’ll be asked to show your completed form at the airport. For more information, please visit the Portuguese government website.”
Spain
Similar to France and Greece, those jetting off to Spain are not subject to any additional Foreign Office guidance or requirements, as per the current information. The Jet2 website states: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.”
This applies equally to travellers heading to the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands.
Turkey
For those planning a holiday to Turkey, the Jet2 website advises: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period, and your passport must be valid for a minimum of 150 days from when you arrive.”
Outside of Europe, Brits have been urged to exercise “extreme caution” amid renewed conflict in one of the world’s most visited countries.
India, a land that draws nearly 19 million international tourists a year with its rich history, vibrant street food, and architectural wonders, has seen its Foreign Office travel advice updated following a spike in tensions with neighbouring Pakistan.
The latest unrest stems from a deadly attack on May 7, when gunmen opened fire on a group of domestic tourists in Pahalgam, a scenic spot in Indian-administered Kashmir.
In retaliation, India launched strikes targeting what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” inside Pakistan. Although both countries agreed to de-escalate on May 10, the situation remains volatile, the Mirror reported.
